If you are on a budget then the KTM is out of it as it costs more and the parts are more expensive. Yamaha and Honda make good reliable bikes and are a bit more than the Kawasaki or suzuki. The kawasaki or suzuki would be an alright choice for someone who is not an experienced rider and the parts are a bit cheaper. I prefer Honda, but do know that the Yamaha is a good bike. Both of them are also better stock standard for racing than the Suzuki or Kawasaki.

James this forum of question and answers is for opinions and my opinion is that the Kawasaki and Suzuki are not as good and this is based on having owned and been sponsored by Kawasaki for a number of years and having to move to Honda to be able to be competitive. So I don't pick on your opinion and I should expect the same from you. I could also name a few Australian factory riders who would not touch a Kawasaki unless of course it was the only sponsor they could get so again it comes down to personal opinion. At the moment in Australia the Hondas have it all over the other bikes.

And yes any bike at the right price would be a good option for someone who is just wanting a bike to race for fun, but I guess I look at it from an optimium racing view. ANd anyone who wants a bike that is a bit smoother on power would actually do better with a suzuki as they are just a bit smaller and smoother on the power. The 2008 Kawasaki stock standard is good but for racing, the bike when one of the top guys who does nearly all the race bikes here for the pros tried to improve on it found that the bike was almost impossible to be made any faster but the Honda was able to be improved for racing measurably making it faster than the Kawasaki and this was proven in the shootout here as the Honda won. And that is only the 2008 model. The kawasaki is not a popular bike here and I am glad you like it as that is your opinion and you are welcome to it and I always enjoy your answers.

Sorry but there is just no right answer. It totally depends on what you want from the bike and what you will use it for. For starters, not to piss anyone off, but one brand is not more reliable than the other so ignore those answers right off the bat. The 250F class is one that changes pretty drastically from year to year. For instance the 2005 CRF250R had incredible low end and a strong mid range kick, but in 2006 they totally changed the motor to more of a mid to top power delivery. Each of the 250F models have something different to offer. You really need to read the reviews and decide which qualities are most important to you. I will say this, I race a CRF250R, but if I were buying a new 250F this year it would be the Kawasaki. It seems to be the 250F to beat this year. If you are a beginner at motocross or just plan to ride for fun don't concentrate too much on the handling and suspension characteristics since the differences are so small that only a rider with years of race experience would even notice. When reading the reviews do however pay close attention to what the power delivery is like and choose the one that fits your needs best.

auburn i dont mean to sound bitchy but you always say kawasaki and suzuki are not as good as the hondas yams and ktms but that couldnt be further from the truth the 08 kawasakis are by far the best 250f out there they are faster and better handeling than hondas and yams i had hondas from 04-07 they were good but the standard kawasaki was better than my fully loaded honda as for the yams they handell like crap and need money spent on them to make them good once they have they are good the ktm is fast but the suspension and steel frame are not good they also fall apart . i am freinds with a factory ktm rider im not going to say his name for obvious reasons but when i asked him what bike he would buy from his own money he said the kawasaki and i swear im not just saying that to prove my point. to answer the question if your on a limited budget just try and get the newset and best condittion bike you can they are all good enough to win on

i appreciate that is your opinion i just sometimes fee that you are in acurate in your judgement of kawasakis but as you say its an opinion so fair enough . i suppose in different parts of the world different bikes are popular here in the gp's nobodey rides 250f hondas i think only 1 or maybe 2 even qualify where as where your from they obviously do well wich is probley why we dont agree.

if your going to be buying an 04-05 model then i would steer clear of the kawasaki/suzuki it overheated and was generally very unreliable the hondas were ok but the valves streched all the time and the clutches were very weak ktm never made a 250f then so really its got to be a yam. personally id try save up a bit more and get an 06 kxf or crf

Honda=6499 kawi/Suzuki/Yamaha=6099 idk bout ktm. Honda has duel exhaust whitch helps with balance, but mainly these bikes are pretty much the same, and unless you are an a-class/good b-class rider, you woont really notice too much of a diffrence if at all

Don't much like the kawasaki as have not had much success with them. Love the Honda as they are reliable and a good ride. Don't have the money for a Ktm. Yamaha is okay, same with Suzuki and Suzuki is slightly cheaper.

Well definetly not the KTM it may be bulletproof but its not a good ride. I have a yz250f and its beautiful but all the other brands are great too. I hear the hondas are sick

yamaha or ktm they have the most reliable and low maintnence bikes.stay away from honda's unless you plan on putting aftermarket valves in because if you dont, they eat valves like crazy.kawasaki just dont seem to be around after that many years.honestly you dont see that many old kawi's,and as for suzuki idk reli i heard it lacks power but idk i'd saw yami, ktm, suzuki
