alright now im no gear head by any means, i wasnt raised like that even though i wish i could have been.. i started out on a suzuki gs500f a few years ago and hated the whole street bike thing until i found a buddies gsxr600 to ride around on so i rode on that for about a year and took over his payments until he could afford the bike again... well thats where the curve ball came in. i sustained a shoulder injury and cant ride street bikes anymore and ive always loved harleys.. so i went out and got an 04 sporty 1200 roadster and got my pipes put on and a heavy breather.. its quite snappy and i love the feel even more.. however i know this bike wont outrun a street bike, i do know i can dump some dollars in it and keep up with them because a guy around the corner from me that has an 01 that does but he doesnt share his secrets.. so i know the basics of what to get i.e. ( cams, pistons, heads, go dual carb instead of single, re-jet the carbs, ignition, push rods, oil cooler, ports, valve springs and rocker arms and even go get some better tires to get some grip) but thats all i know i got a parts list... like this heavy breather the guy at harley said it doesnt have an intake system in it but the guy doin work on it disagreed... honestly id just love some pointers and maybe even possibly a link to make me a basic gear head... im going to stop rambling now, thanks guys i really appreciate it.. btw, ive been reading around yahoo questions... if youre gonna say go get something else... dont waste your time... i want this bike... thanks

" like this heavy breather the guy at harley said it doesnt have an intake system in it but the guy doin work on it disagreed..." Fact is that if the bike doesn't have an intake system on it then it also doesn't have the carby so it then can't run; or have I missed something you are trying to say.

I sense you are thinking of going where you are heading into uncharted waters - (you are a rider, not a bike tuner). There are specialty guys in the U.S. that are into knowing what parts to fit to a Harley to get a given end result and you would be wise to find one of them close to where you live. I'm not suggesting a Harley sales shop, I talking more of a business that is into performance gear especially for Harley's that can advise you from their past experience and quote you on all the parts you need as well as a ride in - ride out price so all you have to do is pay the cost and run the motor in. They can set you up with a mild motor kit through to a kit you can drag race your Harley using Nitro/Methanol.

Use a search engine and emails for someone close to you, but communication is the name of the game, they need to be told what you want the bike to give you and you need to agree to the cost....

I even have an '05 1200r that i offered with 15 miles on the clock, style new off the floor. i've got had it especially much 2 years next month, it now has especially much 8700 miles on it; of course, u aint gonna get this kinda mileage basically doing interior sight bar hoppin in ohio. i've got became this right into a motorbike which will somewhat do an all-time out, a literal 'sunlight as much as sunlight down'. the main extreme component necessary is a sundowner seat, then a removable windsheild, and that i positioned a pair of highway pegs on the engine shelter. inventory seats are completely valueless. they are going to make u bypass 'numb' after eighty miles. people who say that it cant shelter 2 up of course hasnt ridden a million. i've got rode 2-up with out concern as long as she doesnt have a spare tire that would in good shape a semi. i've got ridden 2-up so a ways as a 150 mile around trip. solo using, i many times have the marvel set on the 2d putting, and that i've got takin corners aggressive adequate to scrape pegs. no, this isnt a brilliant motorcycle, and it wont have a trip like an extremely classic, yet real set up, it may and it will exchange into an exceptionally low-value mini-traveling motorcycle. i comprehend a canadian lady who's ridden her 883 sportster from the location of toronto canada, to canton ohio, and she or he had her 883 loaded with kit.
