I think you may be confused as when people talk about the 250f's they are generally referring to the motocross version of 250cc 4 strokes. I guess that is confusing when as Jared and Mitch have pointed out that you can get a crf250x which is the the x is more for trails where the R is designed for mx.

CRF250R is for motocross. CRF250X is an off-road or trail bike. You might be thinking of a CRF230F that is kind of a play bike.

Basically the 250 R and F share the same engine and frame. The "F" would have lighting for night riding and dark trails. It also has a kickstand on the swingarm and different suspension set-up. It may also have different gearing in the trans. and cam timing timing. The R is a motocross racing bike. Looks the same, but, totally different beast. Honda's website would be a good source for info. I think Honda might be coming out with a CRF230L which I think will be street legal.

All manufacturers use diverse letter designations. while people say 250F, they only recommend a 250 4 stroke race motorcycle as a usual term. in case you look on the vast 4 jap fashions Yamaha and Kawasaki's 250F sort easily leads to 250F, that is wise (i.e. YZ250F, KX250F). Suzuki and Honda do no longer use the 250F designation of their sort call yet they are nevertheless seen 250F's from a usual naming attitude. The Honda is termed a CRF250R, nevertheless has the F (for 4 stroke) designator besides the undeniable fact that it incredibly is earlier the displacement extremely than after it, Suzuki is the RM-Z250. It has no F interior the call in any respect, yet lower back nevertheless seen a 250F. So incredibly those are basically advertising words, basically with the aid of fact the Honda has an R after the call would not make it any greater of a race motorcycle than the Yamaha that has an F after the kind call....basically advertising BS. you extremely could basically could be familiar with diverse fashions for it to make any sense. case in point, a guy or woman new to the sport does no longer understand why a YZ250F is a race motorcycle yet a CRF230F isn't.

Like the others said, Honda makes a CRF250R (motocross bike), CRF250X (woods racing bike) and a CRF230F (trail bike). The term 250F is just a generic term applied to all 250 4 stroke race bikes.

A right, I think you mean is a crf 250x vs a 250r both are four strokes, both are built for motocross track. the only difference is the the 250x is a motocross bike made for the trails; it has lights, electric start, a different gearing...

XRs are pit and trails bikes they are not really made for motocross, but with a 250x you can have the luxuries of a motocross bike (crf250r) with the inverted forks, powerful engine. and the smooth fourstoke power combined with the essentials for trail riding, the lights and stuff.

well the cosmetical diffrences are

250R-one exhaust pipe, a big thick pipe on the upper right side

250F (CRF)- if after 2006 (i think) 2 exhaust pipes, small pipe on upper right side

sound diffrences

250R- higher pitch, more like a chain saw

250F- lower/deeper

feel

250R used to race with the 450s so more powerful than the 250F, has much more giddyup mostly power up high on powerband, have to pull in clutch lots

250F not as powerful but still plenty more power down low, can get out of corners easier

thats just the basic diffrences
